The idea that arises I research in the medium photography and graphics but above all, in painting. Out of all the photos that I take, a single photo ends up touching upon the essence I use as starting point in my work. Other sources are photographic images from the internet, newspapers or magazines. My works display elements of nature like water and trees, but also social subjects, architecture, space or still life. Observations, light, the volatile nature of time and questioning reality are continuing themes in how I discover my subjects. Time creates an image in wood. The lines fascinate me. They create associations. In my recent series of paintings there is an interaction between the painted image and the image portrayed through the wood. Choosing the wood as the carrier of the subject is perhaps an indirect choice influenced by the fact that I photographed details of a tree for more than a year. I play with an image, based on imagination or reality. What fascinates me is that perception of reality shifts during observation through your experience, attitude and position. The conclusions you draw are dependent upon your perception. The final painting picture shows diversity in progress to the original starting-point. From figurative to distorted reality through different techniques to the abstract, every painting has its own criterion.
